Following successful operational performance, the Croatian Navy opted for another PLAR-4000 davit from Vestdavit to retrofit an offshore patrol vessel (OPV). This marks a repeat order for Vestdavit’s compact and lightweight PLAR davit, a popular choice among naval and coastguard vessels.
Offering a 4000kg boat-handling capacity, the PLAR-4000 davit features an aluminum frame that gives it the weight advantage of being 30% lighter than steel alternatives, bolstering vessel stability and keeping corrosion at bay. This reduction in equipment weight translates into enhanced energy efficiency and lower fuel consumption, facilitating extended operations at sea and improved speed and maneuverability.

Owing to these advantages, the lightweight PLAR system has found favor with multiple high-speed patrol vessels, including the Royal Australian Navy’s Cape Class Vessels, the Royal New Zealand Navy, the Danish Navy, the Swedish Navy, and the US Coast Guard, among others.
The PLAR-4000 davit is delivered pre-assembled and skid-mounted for easy installation. Its compact size ensures it is suitable for retrofitting existing vessels with space constraints, an essential requirement for the latest Croatian naval order.
In addition, davit’s hydraulic system, constructed with stainless steel components, assures robust durability and convenient maintenance.
Expressing satisfaction at the repeat order, Vestdavit Managing Director Rolf Andreas Wigand remarked, “It’s rewarding to witness the same customer placing a second order for a similar davit, as a testament to its outstanding performance over three years since its initial delivery to the Croatian Navy in 2019.”
He added that the repeated order reinforces market faith in the PLAR davit system and strengthens Vestdavit’s position as it aims to extend its supply to the defense and coastguard sectors in the broader East Mediterranean region.
